In a cave, in the tribal Bastar region in India, there are several, very strange rock paintings that date back 10,000 years. Last year, archaeologists confirmed that they are authentic. What were the ancients trying to tell us with them?
According to archaeologist JR Bhagat from the Chhattisgarh State Department of Archaeology and Culture, these paintings depict aliens like those shown in science fiction movies. There are numerous silhouettes that do not look human, but are aliens the only possible explanation?
„The findings suggest that humans in prehistoric times may have seen or imagined beings from other planets which still create curiosity among people and researchers. Extensive research is needed for further findings. Chhattisgarh presently doesn’t have any such expert who could give clarity on the subject,“ says Bhagat.

Some of the locals worship the cave paintings, while others tell stories that are passed down by their ancestors for many generations. The most famous legend tells of the “rohela people” (the small ones), who used to come to Earth from the sky in round shaped flying vehicle and abduct one or two people who were never to be seen again.

„The paintings are done in natural colours that have hardly faded despite the years. The strangely carved figures are seen holding weapon-like objects and do not have clear features. The nose and mouth are missing. In few pictures, they are even shown wearing space suits. We can’t refute possibility of imagination by prehistoric men but humans usually fancy such things,“ the archaeologist said.

While his claims seem controversial, it is not impossible that such an event happened in the distant past and ancient cave dwellers described it the best way they could. We have numerous examples of ancient paintings and carvings that seem to depict UFOs and creatures that do not look human. Could they all be the product of our ancestors’ imagination or they were really trying to tell us about a contact with otherworldly civilization? Or we are just misunderstanding those ancient artworks and they depict something way more understandable?
