The Duge Beipanjiang Bridge is located in southwest China, and with its 565 meters is the highest such infrastructure facility in the world.
It stretches over a length of 1341 meters and its construction took three years. The cost of construction has gone 1 billion yuan (144 million dollars). The bridge shortens the journey between Liupanshui
and Xuanwei from 5 to 2 hours.
To get an idea of
the height above the Nizhu River, it is two Eiffel towers over one another and one and a half times the height of the Empire State Building in New York.
The new facility takes the record of the previous highest bridge in the world, also in China – the bridge over the River Sidwell has a height of 500 meters.
